Dave
started playing pool when he was 19. The first
time he picked up a cue he ran 6 balls without
missing. Three months later he lost in the finals
of the British Open. They say that there has
never been a phenom like Dave. He later went on
to win tournaments all over the world, but his
talent was in entertaining millions of people.
Dave was 21 when he broke his first world record.
He was able to run a rack of 15 balls, waiting
for the cue ball to stop in between shots, and
pocketing the 8 ball last, in an amazing 43
seconds. Looking back now that seems slow as
Daves current record is 26.5 seconds.
Single table records
43.0 seconds
39.1 seconds
35.1 seconds
32.4 seconds
26.5 seconds
Dave has signed contracts with several
different companies as he became a must for
television. This resulted in him being one of a
handful of world record holders that Guinness
Book of World Records used to promote the book
all over the world.
The next challenge for Dave was the 24 hour World
record which he managed to run 16,499 balls in 24
hours, only resting a total of 35 minutes through
this ordeal. I guess Dave attempted this record
because his social life was not very good at the
time.
Dave was performing for Guinness when they tried
to push him to the limit and see what he could
achieve. They set up 2 pool tables 6 ft apart and
wanted to see if it was possible to run 2 tables
in under 2 minutes, low and behold Dave set a new
record 1 minute 58 seconds.
2 Table records
1 minute 52.6 seconds
1 minute 48.7 seconds
1 minute 42.9 seconds
1 minute 35.8 seconds
1 minute 28.9 seconds
1 minute 22.0 seconds
I guess this wasn't enough for Dave and
Guinness, they now set the ultimate challenge,
running 10 racks of 15 balls on 2 pool tables 6
ft apart in under 10 minutes. Well he did not let
the 5 million viewers down he ran 10 racks in 9
minutes 46.3 seconds!
10 table records
9 minutes 28 seconds
9 minutes 19.7 seconds
9 minutes 6 seconds
8 minutes 57 seconds
This year Dave is going to attempt
something special at the worlds biggest
pool tournament, he is going to try and beat the
two table record and the 10 rack record at the
same time. I guess that lack of social life has
come back. I know all the pool players all over
the world will be cheering Dave on in June. |
